Hot Off The Press!

Immersive theatre definitely isn’t new, but it is becoming more and more popular as a form of accessible and mainstream entertainment. With more people visiting immersive powerhouses like Meow Wolf in New Mexico and Sleep No More in New York, it makes sense that audiences are craving similar experiences on a local level. Because of that, I was happy to see a couple of awesome articles come out about our show, Virtue of Reality.

We also had the opportunity to do a radio interview with the campus station, Radio 1190. Veronica Rodriguez, Adrianna Hipple, and I had fun talking about and promoting the show, our segment starts around the 36:00 time mark.

‘Virtue of Reality’ will transform CU gym into dystopian land

Sept. 20, 2019

Much like the fantastical and dust-covered desert phenomenon that is Burning Man, these smaller-scale experiences allow visitors to tap into the same whimsy and joy they felt at Disney World as kids, yet within a more trippy and, at times, edgy terrain. Instead of spinning teacups, we get dystopian drama — “FernGully” with a tinge of “Mad Max.”

First-ever Experience Design cohort brings virtual reality, immersive performance to Boulder

Sept. 5, 2019

For a group focused on experience design, setting is one of, if not the, most important aspects of the production. “Immersive means you’re not going to be sitting in a seat watching a show like in a regular theatre,” said Raymond. “You’re going to be a part of the story, so the audience members will get to participate in the set we build.”

‘Virtue of Reality’ explores immersive storytelling

Sept. 24, 2019

Entering this experience, the spectator became a part of the world. Blake French, an audience member, stated: “you start inventing your own character” within the world. “It’s like being in Skyrim,” he continued, making comparisons to the show and to being in an actual video game.
